Black Mafia Family was known for drugs, music and murder. Now their story is coming to television — in their own words — via Starz’s The BMF Documentary: Blowing Money Fast.

The eight-episode documentary series from executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson chronicles the rise and eventual fall of BMF founders Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and his brother Terry “Southwest T” Flenory.

The trailer released Tuesday shows the cash, cars, and champagne-drenched parties associated with the criminal organization.

“BMF, you couldn’t really miss them. You watched them get bigger and bigger,” 50 Cent says in the trailer.

The series features audio excerpts from Demetrius Flenory, along with sit-down interviews with members of his family, former BMF members and celebrity insiders including 50 Cent, T.I., 2 Chainz and White Boy Rick.

Per Starz, “Each episode will take viewers through respective phases of the brothers’ journey, beginning as Detroit corner boys, rising to the peak of hip-hop culture, to the end of their reign up to present day.”

Meech and Terry rose from the decaying streets of southwest Detroit in the late 1980s to create one of the most influential crime families in the U.S.

With Meech’s charismatic leadership and Terry’s business acumen, the brothers became key players in the world of drug trafficking and money laundering. But eventually they landed on the DEA’s radar and were sent to prison.

The BMF Documentary: Blowing Money Fast premieres Sunday, Oct. 23 at midnight on the Starz app, all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms and internationally on the Lionsgate+ streaming platform. On linear, it will debut on the Starz channel at 10:00 ET/PT in the U.S. and Canada.

The project is a companion to Starz scripted series BMF, produced and owned by Lionsgate Television. Season 2 of BMF premieres in January 2023.
