Blink Twice and The Crow made muted debuts this weekend at the box office.

Deadpool & Wolverine returned to the top of chart, leaving the newcomers in the dust. The Marvel superhero saga rang up a projected $18.3 million, bringing its five week domestic total to $577.2 million, Comscore reported Sunday.

Last week’s leader Alien: Romulus slipped to second place with $16.2 million, while It Ends With Us was third with $11.9 million.

Channing Tatum, who is engaged to Kravitz in real life, leads the cast of Blink Twice as tech billionaire Slater King. The powerful businessman meets cocktail waitress Frida (Naomi Ackie) at a fundraising gala and sparks fly. Slater invites Frida to his private island for one of his wild parties. She’s looking for adventure and agrees to go, but the situation soon takes a sinister turn.

The cast also includes Alia Shawkat, Haley Joel Osment, Christian Slater, Simon Rex, Adria Arjona, Kyle MacLachlan, and Geena Davis.

Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore, expressed optimism that the film could have staying power.

“If there’s a silver lining for Blink Twice, it’s that the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend will afford the well-marketed film the opportunity to take advantage of the benefits that an extended holiday moviegoing frame can provide, in what will be its second weekend,” Dergarabedian told Urban Hollywood 411 on Sunday.

“Solid star power, an effective trailer and word-of-mouth could carry forward into this week and provide momentum,” he explained.

Blink Twice was followed on the chart this weekend by The Forge.

The faith-based drama debuted with an estimated $6.6 million. The Sony Pictures release comes from the Kendrick brothers — Alex Kendrick and Stephen Kendrick — who are best known for their hit 2015 film War Room.
