After playing his famous uncle in the blockbuster film Michael alongside Colman Domingo and Nia Long, Jaafar Jackson has signed on to work with another Hollywood veteran.

Michael Jackson’s nephew is joining the cast of action thriller Supermax starring Will Smith, according to an article published by The Hollywood Reporter on Monday, Aug. 3.

Details have not yet been released about the role Jackson will play in the Amazon MGM Studios film.

The thriller also stars Rebel Ridge actress AnnaSophia Robb, and was announced in May. David Gordon Green (The Exorcist: Believer) is directing from a script written by David Weil and David J. Rosen.

Smith described the plot as “crazy” earlier this year on social media. The film follows two FBI agents investigating a baffling murder inside the world’s most secure prison.

Smith’s production company, Westbrook Studios, and Miramax are producing the movie.

A&E Crime + Investigation released a report in 2025, on ADX Florence in Colorado, the only supermax prison in the U.S.

According to the federal Bureau of Prisons, the facility houses 411 male inmates and is located in the tiny town of Florence, Colorado.

The prison holds inmates considered extremely dangerous, including Sinaloa drug cartel leader Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, and World Trade Center terrorist Ramzi Yousef.

A former warden told A&E the prison is like “a tomb, a mausoleum,” where inmates are locked in their cells 23 hours a day after they go to the facility “to die.”
