Eddie Murphy is back as Axel Foley in the trailer for the fourth installment of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise.
Netflix released the teaser on Thursday for the film titled Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.
The sequel follows Axel, nearly 40 years after Murphy originated the role in the 1984 film.
Set to the Notorious B.I.G. single “Going Back to Cali,” the trailer shows street-smart Detroit cop Axel stirring up trouble in Beverly Hills.
“They love me in Beverly Hills,” Axel quips. But a passing pooch disagrees and growls at the idea.

Axel lands in police custody, breaks free, and battles bad guys with guns blazing in the trailer.
At one point, he cracks up laughing as the situation goes sideways.
According to the official synopsis: “Detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is back on the beat in Beverly Hills. After his daughter’s life is threatened, she (Taylour Paige) and Foley team up with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy.”
The original film was released on Dec 5, 1984. It earned $316 million worldwide. Thanks to the popularity of that film, parts two and three landed in theaters by 1994. Combined, the franchise earned $712 million worldwide. The movies also made Murphy a global star, with talks of a sequel ever since the mid-’90s.
The new installment is directed by Mark Molloy from a script by Will Beall, Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten. Jerry Bruckheimer, Eddie Murphy, Chad Oman, and Melissa Reid produced the film.
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F will be released globally in summer 2024.
