BET and Tyler Perry Studios have set a launch date and price plan for BET+, their new streaming service.

The subscription-based video on demand service will go live on Thursday, Sept. 19, BET announced in a press release Monday.

The platform, which is a joint venture between Viacom-owned BET and Perry, will be available for a monthly price of $9.99.

The Netflix rival is set to kick off with more the 1,000 hours of ad-free content, including Perry’s complete library of film, TV and stage productions.

The service will also feature original programming from Perry, Will Packer, Girls Trip co-writer Tracy Oliver, and other African American content creators, along with existing movies and series like Martin and BET’s Comic View.

“We are thrilled to offer a streaming experience of content curated for the underserved African American audience with BET+,” said BET Networks president Scott Mills in a statement. “African Americans have a higher SVOD adoption rate than any other consumer base on the market, which is why BET+ is a natural complement of BET’s linear network.”

As previously reported, Packer is bringing the new comedy Bigger to the service. The platform will also air an upcoming adaptation of First Wives Club starring Jill Scott, with Oliver serving as executive producer.

“In our first year, we will release a BET+ original project almost every month, adding to our lineup of deep and diverse content,” added BET+ General Manager Devin Griffin. “We’re focused on super-serving lovers of Black stories by working with top talent, and supporting fresh new voices, on both sides of the camera.”
