BET+ is bringing back Average Joe for a second season.
The streaming service announced the renewal news on Thursday, June 6, saying series lead Deon Cole will reprise his role as “Joe Washington,” a hard-working blue-collar Steelers fan.
In a statement, Cole teased the second season of the comedic drama series, saying it will be wild.
“Hold on tight, a lot of action! This one will be crazy. Let’s go!” the actor and comedian said.

The cast in season one included Tammy Townsend, Malcolm Barrett, Cynthia Kaye McWilliams, Michael Trucco, Ashley Olivia Fisher, Pasha Lychnikoff, and Ashani Perkins.
Inspired by the life of creator Robb Cullen, the intense one-hour series is set in “The Hill” district of Pittsburgh.
It follows events after plumber Joe Washington discovers his recently deceased father stole millions of dollars from dangerous people just before he died. Now those people are after Joe for the money, leading to a life-or-death race against time to find the truth and the millions.
Robb Cullen, McG, Corey Marsh, Mary Viola, and Deb Evans will return to executive produce the second season. Rose Catherine Pinkney will executive produce for BET.
“We congratulate the amazing writers, cast, crew, and our production partners for creating such a captivating first season. Average Joe is a masterclass in storytelling — a thriller anchored in authenticity, friendships and family drama, spiked with perfectly timed moments of humor – all of which resonated tremendously with viewers,” said Scott Mills, president and CEO of BET Media Group. “We are excited to see where the second season will take us.”
Average Joe debuted on June 26, 2023, and quickly became the #1 scripted drama series on BET+ in its debut week.
A premiere date for the new season will be announced later.
