Rosie O’Donnell is in and Sara Ramirez is out on season 3 of And Just Like That.

O’Donnell announced she’s joining the Max series in a post this week on her official Instagram page.

The actress and comedian included a picture of the script for the season premiere episode titled “Outlook Good,” and revealed the name of her character is “Mary.”

“Here comes Mary,” O’Donnell captioned the post, which included a second photo of herself with gray hair.

A spokesperson for Max confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that O’Donnell has joined the cast, although the rep declined to give details about the “Mary” character.

O’Donnell is best known for hosting her self-titled daytime talk show, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, between 1996 and 2002. She’s also had roles in hit films, including A League of Their Own, served as moderator of The View from 2006-2007, and frequently made headlines for trading insults with Donald Trump.

News of O’Donnell joining AJLT follows the departure of Sara Ramirez.

Ramirez, who uses they/them pronouns, posted a lengthy statement to Instagram on Jan. 16, saying artists who support Palestinians in the war between Israel and Hamas face being banished from Hollywood. Ramirez frequently shares videos on social media from protests and messages in support of Palestinians.

Their post came as the Daily Mail reported Ramirez “has officially been dropped” from the show’s upcoming third season.

A few weeks later, several Hollywood trade publications quoted show sources as saying Ramirez “won’t be returning” to the AJLT.

For two seasons, the actor played Che Diaz — a comedian, podcaster and on-off partner of Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon).

Fans hated Che and frequently complained on social media that the character was “annoying” and needed to go.

A show insider told the Daily Mail Che had become a “waste of airtime.”

“Sara was not fired because they support Palestine and the cease fire,” the insider said. “Sara was fired because Che brought nothing to the show anymore. They were on the chopping block since last season.”

And Just Like That was renewed for a third season in August 2023. The Sex and the City spinoff stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon from the original series.

Additional cast members on AJLT include Nicole Ari Parker and Sarita Choudhury.

Karen Pittman, who played professor Nya Wallace, recently exited the series because of scheduling issues. The actress has a role on Apple TV+ drama The Morning Show and will next star alongside Wood Harris in the upcoming Netflix series Forever from Mara Brock Akil.
