A$AP Rocky was found not guilty on Tuesday in his assault and weapons trial. Still, that doesn’t mean every juror thought he was innocent.
YouTuber Nique Laclaire, also known as Nique at Nite, spoke with one of the women on the Los Angeles jury outside the courthouse after the verdict was announced.
The unidentified female juror said she did not buy the defense claim that Rocky was carrying a “prop gun.” Yet she voted to acquit because she didn’t think there was not enough evidence to convict the rapper.
“We were all thinking a crime had been committed, but the thing is with the instructions we had, and with the law, we didn’t think there was enough evidence to convict,” the woman said in a video obtained by TMZ.
She added that the jurors paid close attention to the evidence.
“We really took our time. We discussed all the issues, all of the questions that we had, we clarified those. We really looked over all the evidence that people wanted to see,” she explained.

The jury was made up of seven women and five men. None of them were Black, which prompted Rev. Al Sharpton to issue a sharply-worded statement on the website for his National Action Network.
“It is absolutely ridiculous that the jury will be not fair and representative, so as to deprive A$AP Rocky of a fair trial,” Sharpton said. “I am monitoring this trial and challenging the Los Angeles District Attorney to ensure that fair and representative justice is afforded to A$AP Rocky.”
A$AP Rocky, born Rakim Mayers, was charged with two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
The case centered on accusations that Mayers fired a gun at Terell Ephron, his former childhood friend, during a heated argument in Hollywood on Nov. 6, 2021.
Ephron testified that Mayers fired two shots at him, with one bullet grazing the knuckles on his left hand.
The LAPD investigated the shooting but never found any shell casings. Two days after the incident, Ephron took two shell casing to police saying he had found them on the street where the crime happened.
Throughout the trial, A$AP Rocky’s attorney Joe Tacopina said his client was carrying a “prop gun” with blanks inside and there was no way Ephron could have been seriously injured.
Tacopina criticized Ephron and said he caught him in multiple lies during cross examination.
A$AP Rocky had been facing 24 years in a California state prison if found guilty. After he was acquitted, he walked out of court with girlfriend Rihanna.
“I feel blessed to be here. I’m a free man,” he said outside court.
