Janet Jackson has publicly honored her late father, Joe Jackson, for the first time since his funeral.
Janet, 52, took to Twitter and Instagram on Tuesday to share a childhood photo of herself sitting on Joe’s lap. She captioned the post with a heart emoji.
Fans were touched by the tribute, with many expressing their condolences in the comments section for the Jackson family patriarch, who died last week in Las Vegas after battling cancer. He was 89.
Family members and friends said goodbye on Monday, during a private funeral and burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif.

He was laid to rest in the same cemetery as son Michael Jackson, who passed away at age 50 in 2009.
The elder Jackson had a complicated history. He was known for being a strict, almost oppressive father and talent manager, yet he brought the world the Jackson 5.
Since Joe Jackson’s death on June 27, his family members have posted tributes on social media and expressed their adoration for him.
Son Jackie Jackson, posted a picture on Instagram Thursday of the two of them and said he loved his dad.
“Thank you for everything you’ve done for us, for all the sacrifices you made, so that we could be the best that we could be. I love you, Jackie,” he wrote.
“This man is and always will be an example or sheer willpower and dedication,” Michael’s son Prince Jackson captioned a photo on Instagram last week that showed him posing with his grandfather. “You taught me to take pride in the Jackson name and what it really means, you taught me dedication in the face of adversity and most of all you showed me strength and fearlessness.”
