2 Actors From Netflix Series ‘The Chosen One’ Killed After Van Crashes in Mexico

Two cast members from the Netflix series The Chosen One were killed when the production van they were riding in crashed in Mexico.

According to a Saturday report from the Associated Press, the crash occurred near Mulegé in Baja California Sur.

Six other people in the van were injured when the vehicle reportedly flipped over while traveling on a dirt road June 16. The extent of their injuries was not known.

The Baja California Department of Culture identified the two people who died as Raymundo Garduño Cruz and Juan Francisco González Aguilar.

The official description of The Chosen One says: “A 12-year-old boy learns he’s the returned Jesus Christ, destined to save humankind.”

The series is created by Mark Millar and Peter Gross, Comicbook.com reported. It began filming in April and is being handled by an independent production company.

The co-showrunners are Everardo Gout (The Forever Purge, Luke Cage) and Leopoldo Gout (Instinct, Molly’s Game).

Reports Saturday evening said production was temporarily halted on the series after the crash.
