I Am Legend is getting a sequel with some major star power behind it.
Will Smith will join forces with Michael B. Jordan to bring the next chapter of the saga to the screen. Smith and Jordan have both closed deals to star in and co-produce the Warner Bros. thriller, Deadline reported Friday.
Smith, who starred in the original 2007 post-apocalyptic thriller, will produce through his Westbrook Studios alongside Jon Mone and Ryan Shimazaki, with James Lassiter serving as EP. Jordan will produce with Elizabeth Raposo for the Outlier Society banner.

Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the original film, will pen the sequel. A director has not yet been named.
The original film followed U.S. Army virologist Robert Neville (Smith), the sole survivor in New York City trying to find a cure after a plague kills most of humanity and transforms the rest into monsters. The cast also included Alice Braga, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, and Charlie Tahan. The film had a reported budget of $150 million and earned $585 million worldwide.
Smith seemed to confirm the news that a sequel is in the works, posting a still of a desolate New York on his Instagram page and tagging Jordan.
