Just days after announcing he was “officially retired” from social media because of “trolls,” Tyrese Gibson returned to Instagram to voice his support for Vice President Kamala Harris.

In a video uploaded to Instagram on Friday, Sept. 6, the actor and singer said he’d just recently attended a fundraiser in Georgia for Harris and vowed to hold a “free” a concert in the battleground state, to support her campaign for the White House.

Tyrese also voiced “frustration” over “disrespect from Black men, specifically, towards Kamala Harris.”

“It’s not disrespectful to not agree with someone politically,” he said. “It’s disrespectful to be okay with calling her, purposely … out of her name.”

Days earlier, the Fast & Furious star faced criticism for accusing the Biden-Harris administration of ignoring African Americans while enacting legislation to protect Asian Americans.

He made the comment during an interview with civil rights attorney Ben Crump, while discussing the “COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act,” which the actor referred to as the “Asian Anti-Hate Crime Bill.”

“What you’re doing is, President Biden and Kamala Harris, you’re saying that Black and Brown people will continue to be disposable,” Tyrese said, as Crump nodded and seemingly agreed with his remarks.

The backlash was swift. Journalist Roland Martin blasted Tyrese on social media.

“I’m sick of celebrities talking about public policy and they do no fact checking,” Martin said in a Sept. 1 Instagram post.

MSNBC also called the actor out, saying he’d taken on a new role as “spreader of political misinformation.”

Over the past couple of weeks, Tyrese has continued to make headline-grabbing comments during the media blitz for his new film, 1992.

On Aug. 20, he broke down in tears during an interview on “The Breakfast Club,” while discussing his divorce from second wife, Samantha Lee, in 2020.

“When divorces happen, women aren’t the only ones that are devastated,” Tyrese said. “This is real s–t out here.”

Then on the Aug. 23 episode of the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast, the actor said he’s no fan of his Baby Boy co-star Ving Rhames.

“I don’t like the n—a to this day,” said Tyrese. “I don’t give a f—k where we at, what clothes we got on, what we doing, what event— it could be the Golden Globes— I see that n—a across the room I be like, ‘Man, f—k that n—a back there.’”
