The cause of death has been confirmed for Love & Marriage: Huntsville star KeKe Jabbar, two months after she died.
The wife, mother, author and professor passed away at her home on July 2.
Citing an autopsy report from the Alabama medical examiner, TMZ reported on Sept. 6, that Jabbar died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
The coroner’s report said she had 64% carboxyhemoglobin in her blood. In comparison, normal levels are under 2 percent for non-smokers and typically fall below 5 percent for smokers.

While carbon monoxide poisoning was listed as the primary cause of death, the toxicology report noted that Jabbar had oxycodone and oxymorphone in her system when she died.
In July, Jabbar’s family friend — YouTuber JoAnn Jenkins — shared details about the reality star’s death, and was the first to report that carbon monoxide poisoning was the likely cause.
“KeKe did not overdose, KeKe did not take her own life,” Jenkins said during a live YouTube stream. “KeKe loved life. KeKe was not ready to leave life. She wasn’t ready to leave her children, her husband or her family.”
Jenkins noted that Jabbar would “go to sleep wherever,” and fell asleep in her car on the morning of July 2. Jabbar had reportedly been exhausted after “she left her sister’s about four in the morning.”
The YouTuber said, “Her car was not functioning [and there] was something already wrong with her car.”
Jenkins noted that Jabbar’s husband found her unconscious and was not able to revive her.
“Her husband, her life partner, her best friend tried to bring his wife back, the mother of his children, and he couldn’t… KeKe passed from carbon monoxide poisoning. That’s it. That is all,” Jenkins said. “There was no turmoil going on in her life. She had a lot of great things to look forward to.”
KeKe Jabbar, whose full name was Ne’Keshia Jenel Dawson Jabbar, was born on Oct. 23, 1981. She is survived by her husband, three children, her parents and cousins.
She was the cousin of Love & Marriage: Huntsville cast member LaTisha “Tisha” Scott.
The OWN series about a group of longtime friends in Huntsville is the network’s #1 show. Jabbar joined the show in 2023.
