Rapper Tory Lanez is recovering after he was stabbed multiple times at the California prison where he is serving a 10-year sentence for shooting fellow hip-hop star Megan Thee Stallion in the feet back in 2020.
A statement posted to Lanez’s verified Instagram account late Monday, May 12, said he was “stabbed 14 times — including 7 wounds to his back, 4 to his torso, 2 to the back of his head, and 1 to the left side of his face.”
The post went on to say, “Both of his lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing apparatus.”
Despite his injuries, “He is now breathing on his own. Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through.”
The post ended with a message thanking everyone “for their continued prayers and support.”

As previously reported, a spokesman with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) said the stabbing happened at approximately 7:20 a.m. on Monday inside the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi.
The rapper, born Daystar Peterson, “was attacked by another inmate at a housing unit,” Pedro Calderón Michel, deputy press secretary with the CDCR, said in an e-mail to Urban Hollywood 411.
Lanez, 32, was taken to a hospital in Bakersfield, outside the prison campus.
An investigation is now underway by the Investigative Services Unit at the Tehachapi facility and by the Kern County District Attorney’s Office.
It’s unclear how another inmate was able to stab Lanez so many times without anyone intervening.
Fortunately, the rapper survived the brutal attack.
In April 2023, Los Angeles rapper MoneySign Suede, born Jaime Brugada Valdez, was stabbed to death at the Correctional Training Facility (CTF) in Soledad, California.
His attorney, Nicholas Rosenberg, told the Los Angeles Times that Valdez was attacked in the shower and stabbed in the neck. He was just 22 years old and had been serving time for possession of a firearm by a felon or addict.
