Rapper Tory Lanez is facing more legal problems.

The controversial performer is being investigated for allegedly assaulting R&B singer August Alsina in Chicago on Sept. 17.

Alsina posted photos of himself on Instagram over the weekend that showed he had a bloody lip and other injuries, which he said were inflicted by Lanez because Alsina refused to shake his hand.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, which is prosecuting a separate case against Lanez for allegedly shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, has launched an out-of-state probe into Alsina’s claims.

“We are aware of the allegations that the defendant attacked artist August Alsina and are investigating these claims,” the D.A.’s office said in a statement to Urban Hollywood 411. “The allegations are serious and will be thoroughly examined.”

Alsina’s Instagram post said he was assaulted by “a 4’11 sized leprechaun……w/ 8 oversized security n–as.” In the caption for the post, he named Lanez and said the “It Doesn’t Matter” rapper attacked him for refusing to “dap him up” when they ran into each other.

The singer, who has a documented history of health problems, said he didn’t want to shake hands because he’s concerned about contracting COVID-19 and monkeypox. His post alleged Lanez’s associates recorded the alleged assault, and he’s demanding they release the footage. The Louisiana singer said he went public with his claims because he heard Lanez was “feeding falsities to blogs.”

Lanez posted a statement on his Instagram Story saying claims that he attacked Alsina are not true.

“I don’t know what everybody talking about,” he wrote in the statement captured by XXL. “I’ve been in the studio …. I’m not into anything negative … I’ve been working on my self … And being a better person.”

Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, is currently awaiting trial for allegedly shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the feet after an argument in the Hollywood Hills two years ago.

At a hearing last year, LAPD Detective Ryan Stogner told the court he spoke with Megan after the shooting and she told him she heard Lanez say, “Dance, b—h!” before firing at her as she got out of an SUV.

The Canadian rapper was scheduled to go on trial this past January on charges of personally using a firearm and inflicting great bodily injury, but the case was delayed. If convicted as charged, he faces a maximum sentence of 22 years and eight months in state prison.
