Jada Pinkett Smith’s former lover, R&B artist August Alsina, has seemingly referenced their relationship in a new song.

The singer shared the track titled “Shake the World” Tuesday on Instagram. In the song, he sings: “well, of course, some s— is bound to go down when you tangled up with the world’s favorite.”

The track also references being canceled, which Alsina claims happened after Pinkett Smith addressed their relationship on her show Red Table Talk in July 2020.

He says on the song: “I heard I was canceled. Well, let’s not speak on that. Red dot on my back, I became a target. And I’m flawed but flawless. That’s what makes me August.”

The release of the song comes as Pinkett Smith’s husband, Will Smith, is in the news for slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars.

In 2020, Will and Jada sat down to discuss her affair with Alsina while seated at the red table.

“About four and a half years ago… I started a friendship with August and we actually became really, really good friends. And it all started with him just needing some help, me wanting to help his health, his mental state,” she said.

“As time went on, I got into a different kind of entanglement with August,” she added. “One thing I want to clean up… one of the things that was swirling in the press was about you giving ‘permission’ which is, the only person that can give permission in that particular circumstance is myself. But what I think August was trying to communicate … I think he also wanted to make it clear that he is not a homewrecker.”

Alsina previously appeared on an episode of Red Table Talk in 2018, but was addressed by Pinkett Smith as a “dear family friend.” The singer spoke about issues he was facing at the time with alcohol, sex and drug addictions.
