Cedric the Entertainer will be moving out of The Neighborhood after season 8 on CBS.
On Monday, March 10, the network announced the family comedy has been renewed for an eighth and final season.
“The brilliant cast and creative team at The Neighborhood led by the incomparable Cedric the Entertainer have brought levity, laughter and poignant storylines to Monday nights for seven incredible seasons,” Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, said in a statement.
“The Neighborhood is a strong ratings performer for CBS and one of the top comedies on TV. We believe the show’s loyal fans deserve a proper farewell season full of the trademark humor and heartfelt moments that are synonymous with the series,” Reisenbach added, but did not say why the show was canceled.

Cedric the Entertainer leads the cast of the series as a friendly guy from the Midwest who moves his family to a neighborhood in Los Angeles, where not everyone looks like him or wants to get to know him and his family.
Tichina Arnold, Max Greenfield, Beth Behrs, Sheaun McKinney, Marcel Spears, and Skye Townsend also star.
Currently in its seventh season, The Neighborhood has averaged 4.9 million total viewers (with Live+ playback) this season, according to TV Line. That number is down 16 percent from season 6.
CBS noted in its announcement that after 35 days of multiplatform viewing, the show’s audience climbs to an average of 6.4 million viewers.
The show premiered in 2018, and is produced by CBS Studios. Executive producers include Bill Martin, Mike Schiff, Aaron Kaplan, Wendi Trilling, Cedric the Entertainer, and Eric Rhone.
Since its debut, Cedric has won an NAACP Image Award for outstanding actor in a comedy series. The show also picked up an American Cinema Editors award for best edited multi-camera comedy series.
While the show is ending, some of the characters could potentially appear on a spinoff titled Crutch, starring Tracy Morgan. Last year Paramount+ ordered a full season of the series, which comes from Cedric The Entertainer and his production company, A Bird and a Bear Entertainment.
CBS is also considering adding a spinoff focused on McKinney’s and Spears’ characters, according to published reports.
