WE tv docuseries The Braxtons has revealed how family members surrounded Traci Braxton with love in the days before she died from cancer in March 2022.
The Braxtons premiered on Aug. 9.
In a clip shared to social media this weekend, sisters Toni, Towanda, Trina, Tamar and their mother, Evelyn Braxton, were shown enjoying heartfelt moments with Traci before she passed away.
“We just kept flying back and forth to see her,” Towanda said in the video. “We took turns and everyone had their own role in being there for her.”

As Traci rested in bed, the sisters danced and sang to help lift her spirits.
They later played cards, had pajama parties and sat by Traci’s side while she watched her favorite TV shows and movies — Judge Judy and Disney’s The Princess and the Frog featuring Anika Noni Rose.
Tamar added that they talked about Traci’s cooking.
“We had conversations about her turkey wings,” Tamar shared. “I’m the only person that she gave the recipe to.”
While mom Evelyn said, “When we stayed together at her house… she said, ‘Mommy, I love you. You were the best mother,’ and we just embraced all night long. I will always remember that.”
Traci was a singer like her famous sisters. In October 2014, she released her debut solo album Crash & Burn, which included the singles “Last Call” and “Perfect Time.”
She died from esophageal cancer at age 50, and was survived by her extended family, her husband Kevin Surratt, and their son Kevin Surratt Jr.
The Braxtons is a follow-up to the family’s hit program, Braxton Family Values — which ran for seven seasons.
WE tv has said the new show would follow the family as they “reunite for the first time since the loss of their beloved sister, Traci, offering viewers a raw and unfiltered look at the family’s highs and lows across eight captivating episodes.”
The Braxtons airs Friday nights at 9:30/8:30c on WE tv and streams on ALLBlk.
