Traci Braxton, a singer and member of the famous Braxton family, has died after battling cancer. She was 50.
Her sister, Grammy-winning R&B artist Toni Braxton, posted news of Traci’s death Saturday on Instagram.
“It is with the utmost regret that we inform you of the passing of our sister, Traci. Needless to say, she was a bright light, a wonderful daughter, an amazing sister, a loving mother, wife, grandmother and a respected performer. We will miss her dearly,” Toni said in a statement. “Traci passed this morning as the snow was falling, our angel is now a snowflake.”
“We ask that you respect our privacy as we plan to send her home with love, celebrating her life. We are family forever. Love, The Braxton Family,” the statement continued.

Traci’s husband Kevin Surratt told TMZ she had been privately battling esophageal cancer for a year.
She was born in Severn, Maryland in 1971, to parents Michael Conrad Braxton Sr. and Evelyn Braxton. Traci married Kevin in 1993.
In October 2014, she released her debut solo album “Crash & Burn,” which included the singles “Last Call” and “Perfect Time.” She would release a second album titled “On Earth,” preceded by the lead single “Lifeline,” in 2018.
She was featured on the WE TV reality series Braxton Family Values. The show premiered in 2011, and centered on Traci, Towanda, Trina and Tamar, the talented sisters of Toni Braxton.
Traci also appeared on the third season of Marriage Boot Camp with her husband Kevin. She was an actress as well, and had roles in the movies Sinners Wanted (2018), All In (2019) and The Christmas Lottery (2020).
