Starz released a teaser trailer on Friday, and announced the July premiere date for the upcoming documentary series Down in the Valley.

The trailer offers a “sexy dive” into Mississippi’s “Dirty Delta” — from local gatherings, to strip clubs, and sex shops.

Hosted and executive produced by actor Nicco Annan, who plays “Uncle Clifford” on P-Valley, the six-part docuseries is inspired by the hit Starz drama about strip-club dancers working in Mississippi.

“I can’t wait for y’all to get a taste of this fiercely unpredictable, deep-dive dance into Southern culture. It’s a black mirror of sorts,” Annan said in a previous statement. “Going through the experience of watching Down in the Valley, the audience will immerse and connect with culture beyond the narrow lens of their everyday neighborhoods, and see through a mirrored reflection the forgotten Black American South like never before.”

According to the official description for the docuseries, the half-hour episodes confront “uncomfortable truths, challenges societal norms, and advocates for a more inclusive and enlightened future.”

Down in the Valley is produced by Zero Point Zero for Starz.

In addition to Annan, executive producers include P-Valley creator Katori Hall, Lydia Tenaglia, Chris Collins, and Jared Andrukanis as co-executive producer on behalf of Zero Point Zero. Shoshana Guy served as showrunner.

The series premieres Friday, July 5 at midnight ET on the STARZ app, and on linear, it will debut on STARZ at 9:00 PM ET/PT in the U.S. and 10:00 PM ET in Canada.

A premiere date for P-Valley will be announced later.
