Rick Ross thinks 50 Cent bungled BMF, and Ricky Rozay is considering bringing a “big budget” version of the Black Mafia Family story to theaters.

“I do want to do a BMF film. Because you’ve been entertained by a lackluster small budget series,” Ross said this week on his Instagram Stories as captured by The Shade Room.

“Now it’s time to do a big budget film. Which director?” the “Hustlin'” rapper asked his followers, before mentioning several acclaimed Hollywood directors. “F. Gary Gray, Antoine Fuqua, and Quentin Tarantino, it’s a lot of legends. This is going to be big. I can feel it.”

Ross also shared a picture of himself with BMF co-founder Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, who was released from federal prison in October after serving a 30 year sentence for drug trafficking and money laundering.

While Rick Ross is aiming high, TMZ elbowed its way into the conversation and said the movie is unlikely because Ross’ nemesis 50 Cent owns the rights to the BMF story and sources told the outlet “nothing is changing!!!”

BMF (the TV version) is inspired by the true story of Big Meech and his brother Terry “Southwest T” Flenory. The two siblings rose from the decaying streets of southwest Detroit in the late 1980s to create one of the most influential crime families in the U.S.

The series stars Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr. as his dad and All American alum Da’Vinchi as Terry.

The drug drama is one of the most popular shows on Starz and in March 2024 was renewed for a fourth season, which may or may not happen as tensions between executive producer 50 Cent and the Flenory family boil over.

The feud escalated earlier this week when Meech teamed up with Rick Ross to help promote his Big Meech “Welcome Back” concert next week in Florida. Stay tuned.
