Long Beach rapper Vince Staples leads an action-packed life, at least that’s the impression he gives in the trailer for The Vince Staples Show.

Netflix released the promo on Wednesday, Jan. 17, for the five-part scripted series.

The video begins with the “Magic” rapper returning home at the end of a long day and sitting on a couch to watch TV with his girlfriend. She asks how his day went and we see flashes of the chaos Staples encountered throughout the day.

The video shows Staples getting told off by the cashier in a chicken restaurant, arguing with someone in a mascot costume, attending a meeting with fellow rapper Rick Ross, and visiting someone in jail.

“I bailed you out last week!” Staples says into a jailhouse phone.

Just before the trailer ends, the rapper and actor ventures inside a bank that’s being robbed and the suspects recognize him.

“Y’all know who the f–k this is?” one of the robbers asks the confused bank customers.

Set in Long Beach, the series comes from Kenya Barris and his Khalabo Ink Society production company.

The cast includes Vanessa Bell Calloway and Andrea Ellsworth, along with guest stars Naté Jones, Arturo Castro, Scott MacArthur, Bryan Greenberg, and Myles Bullock.

The fictional series is loosely inspired by Staples’ life. Details about the show were first announced in September 2022.

“I am excited to partner with Netflix and Kenya Barris on The Vince Staples Show,” Staples said in a statement at the time. “This has been something I have been developing for some time, and I am happy it’s coming to fruition.”

Staples and Barris serve as executive producers alongside Ian Edelman, Maurice Williams, Corey Smyth, and William Stefan Smith.

The Vince Staples Show premieres Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, on Netflix.
