‘Rap Sh!t’ Gets Season 2 Trailer and Premiere Date on Max

Rap Sh!t is set to return for a second season with more music and more laughs on Max.

The streaming service said Monday season 2 of the comedy series from Issa Rae will premiere on Aug. 10.

Along with the news, came a new trailer and details on the cast.

The series follows Shawna and Mia, two estranged high school friends from Miami, who reunite to form a rap group. In their rise to fame, Shawna and Mia find themselves forced to decide if they want to stay true to themselves or conform to the demands of the music industry.

The cast includes Aida Osman (Shawna), KaMillion (Mia), Jonica Booth (Chastity), RJ Cyler (Lamont), and Daniel Augustin (Maurice).

The series is executive produced by Issa Rae and showrunner Syreeta Singleton. Additional executive producers include Montrel McKay for Hoorae, Jonathan Berry and Dave Becky for 3 Arts Entertainment, and Jim Kleverweis. Hip-hop duo Yung Miami and JT of City Girls serve as co-executive producers, along with Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “P” Thomas for Quality Control Films, and Sara Rastogi and Jax Clark for Hoorae.

Season 2 of Rap Sh!t debuts on Thursday, Aug. 10. A new episode will drop weekly, leading up to the season finale on Thursday, Sept. 21.
