Proving Teresa’s Death
Pote (Hemky Madera) gives police a statement about the shooting as a coroner prepares to perform an autopsy on Teresa’s body. James sneaks into the police station and takes pictures of the crime scene photos to send to CIA strongman Devon Finch (Jamie Hector),to confirm he killed Teresa.
Pote returns to Mexico to carry out Teresa’s final wish to have her ashes scattered in Culiacán. Unfortunately, Boaz (Joseph T. Campos) sends a team to kill Pote, who ends up in a world of trouble.
Meanwhile, all of the charges against Marcel Dumas (Alimi Ballard) have been dropped. But after retiring from the drug business he’s broke. “It’s hard to make a living on whiskey and music alone,” Dumas says.
Boaz Takes Over
With Teresa gone, Boaz takes over her empire in New Orleans. He gets a visit from Devon who warns him to fly under the radar. Boaz says that’s not his style, but Devon tells him, “Just remember, this isn’t Sinaloa.”
With Teresa gone, James calls Devon to let him know their relationship is “done.” Devon agrees, but what he means by “done” is sending a CIA sniper to take James out. James kills the hitman and uses the guy’s thumb to open his phone. Inside, he finds pictures from a kill list that includes himself, Pote, and Kelly Anne (Molly Burnett).
The CIA Is Coming
James calls Pote to warn him. “Finch is coming for you and Kelly Anne, he knows where she is.” Kelly Anne manages to escape but a CIA hit squad kills her nosy neighbor.
Pote gets arrested for a carjacking as he tries to escape and ends up in prison for 47 months. He survives after Devon tells Boaz to stand down and Pote is placed in protective custody behind bars.
Once Pote gets released, Boaz is waiting for him. The two get into a knife fight and Boaz FINALLY dies.
For all his troubles, Dumas gets some life-changing news. Teresa left him the waterfront property in New Orleans and all the money to complete the project.
Choosing to Live
We later see Pote walking up to a beachfront mansion and he meets his young daughter, who’s playing in the sand. Kelly Anne is there too.
In a shocking twist, James and Teresa are also inside the house.
Yes. Teresa’s alive and she’s living with James after the two professed their love. Teresa says her plot worked — officials in Belize helped sell her death (for a bribe) and she escaped by sea.
Teresa, Kelly Anne, Pote and James sit down for dinner. James raises a glass and says, “a toast to a new life.”
Teresa reflects on her journey over the past five seasons — from a money changer in Culiacán to a cartel boss who “defied all odds to survive.”
“They said that prison or death were my only options,” she says. “I chose life.”
