Porsha Williams Guobadia has filed for divorce a little over a year into her marriage to Simon Guobadia.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta star submitted the filing on Thursday, Feb. 22, according to USA Today, which obtained a copy of the documents. The filing says the couple’s 15-month marriage is “irretrievably broken” and there are “no prospects for a reconciliation.”
A week before the filing, the two appeared to be happy in a video Porsha, 42, posted on Instagram showing them on a boat in Dubai with a caption describing Guobadia as her “ride or die.”
Following one month of dating, the two became engaged in May 2021 and tied the knot in front of hundreds of guests in November 2022.

Earlier this month, Guobadia, 59, made headlines after a federal judge rejected his petition against U.S. immigration officials for denying his naturalization application.
The Nigerian businessman has been trying to obtain U.S. citizenship for years, but his applications have been denied over alleged criminal activity and prior deportations, as previously reported
In September 1987, Guobadia was “arrested for bank and credit card fraud and pleaded guilty to a felony offense,” court documents say.
Two years later, he “was arrested in January 1989 for unauthorized use of a vehicle and again in May 1990 for fraud,” according to the documents.
In 2016, Guobadia applied for naturalization under a false identity and was denied, immigration officials said. Guobadia filed another application for naturalization on Dec. 31, 2020, and was again denied.
On March 13, 2023, he submitted an “instant complaint” asking the court to dismiss the denial. Now that a judge has rejected his claim, he could face deportation.
Just a few days before news broke that Guobadia’s citizenship appeal was denied, Porsha announced she’d signed on to return to RHOA for season 16.
The media personality left the Bravo reality series in season 13 and appeared with Guobadia on the spinoff Porsha’s Family Matters in 2021.
