Paula Patton Lands Lead Role in Legal Thriller for BET Streaming Service

Paula Patton is set to star in the new legal-themed movie Sacrifice, which will debut on the BET+ streaming service, BET Networks announced Thursday.

The thriller is set in Los Angeles and follows highly sought after entertainment lawyer Daniella Hernandez, as she navigates the nefarious lives of her rich and famous clients.

Also joining the cast are Erica Ash, Juan Antonio, V. Bozeman, Altonio Jackson, Nelson Bonilla, Michael Toland, James Trevena Brown, Liliana Montenegro, Marques Houston, and Josué Ramon Gutierrez.

“We are thrilled to have Paula and the talented ensemble cast join our first original film on BET+, as we continue to strengthen our commitment to quality storytelling while meeting our audience on all platforms,” Connie Orlando, head of programming for BET Networks, said in a statement.

Added Patton: “I’m excited to be a part of the BET family and their newest endeavor BET+.”

The  two-hour original movie is written, directed and executive produced by Chris Stokes through his Footage Films company. Longtime-collaborator Marques Houston also serves as an executive producer.

Sacrifice was shot in New Orleans and will debut in 2020. The movie is being positioned for a potential series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Patton was most recently seen in the 2018 Deon Taylor film Traffik about a couple on a romantic getaway who are attacked by a violent biker gang. Her other credits include The Perfect Match, Warcraft, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and Precious.

Stokes directed music videos for artists such as Brandy, Jhene Aiko and B2K. He also helmed the films You Got Served and Til Death Do Us Part.
