OWN Sets Premiere Date and Unveils New Trailer for ‘Cherish the Day’

Cherish the Day, Ava DuVernay’s new romantic anthology series, will premiere over two nights starting Feb. 11, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced Thursday.

The first season of the steamy drama stars Xosha Roquemore (The Mindy Project) and Alano Miller (Underground) as a couple who meet and fall in love in Los Angeles, with the full season spanning five years of their lives.

The newly released trailer shows the two going on dates and exchanging romantic glances. But they come from two very different worlds, and their families warn them to be careful as Sade’s single “Cherish the Day” plays in the background.

OWN previously announced Emmy-winning actress Cicely Tyson, Michael Beach, Anne-Marie Johnson, and Kellee Stewart also have roles on Cherish the Day.

The series is produced for OWN by Array Filmworks and Harpo Films in association with Warner Horizon Scripted Television. Ava DuVernay, Paul Garnes (Queen Sugar), Tanya Hamilton (Queen Sugar), and Oprah Winfrey serve as executive producers.

Directors for the eight episodes include Tanya Hamilton, Blitz Bazawule, Aurora Guerrero and Deborah Kampmeier. Producers say they’ve achieved full gender parity, with a production crew of over 50 percent women.

Cherish the Day will premiere over two nights on OWN, starting Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 10 p.m. ET/PT and continuing Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The eight-episode chapter will continue to air on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
