Netflix Sets Premiere Date for ‘True Story’ Starring Kevin Hart and Wesley Snipes

The highly-anticipated Netflix limited series True Story starring Kevin Hart and Wesley Snipes has a premiere date.

The streamer announced Thursday the seven-episode drama will debut globally on Wednesday, Nov. 24.

Hart serves as an executive producer and leads the cast as a famous comedian named Kid. Snipes plays his long-lost brother. The additional cast includes Lauren London, Tawny Newsome, Will Catlett, Paul Adelstein, Theo Rossi, Ash Santos, John Ales, Chris Diamantopoulos, and Billy Zane.

Here’s the official description: “A tour stop in Kid’s (Hart) hometown of Philadelphia becomes a matter of life and death for one of the world’s most famous comedians when the consequences of a lost evening with his wayward older brother (Snipes) threaten to destroy everything he’s built.”

As previously reported, the project is written and co-executive produced by Narcos and Narcos: Mexico showrunner Eric Newman, under his overall television deal with Netflix.

Hart’s Hartbeat Productions produces. Caroline Currier from Grand Electric and Mike Stein and Tiffany Brown from Hartbeat Productions all serve as co-producers.

Stephen Williams (Watchmen, Lost) will direct and executive produce the first three episodes. Hanelle Culpepper (Star Trek Picard, Kung Fu) directs the final four episodes.

True Story marks Kevin Hart’s dramatic series debut, although he did previously have a dramatic role in the 2017 film The Upside.

The comedian shared the news about his latest project Thursday on Instagram.

“This is my first dramatic series and it is amazing!!!!!” he captioned a photo gallery of the series:  “I can’t wait for you guys to see this thriller starring myself & the legend @realwesleysnipes ….Operation blow u guys away is about to be in session!!!!! My team at HartBeat productions are more focused than they have ever been and because of that they keep knocking the ball out of the park!!!! Lock in the date people Nov. 24.”
