Perry celebrated the renewal with a statement to Netflix blog Tudum, and teased season 2.

“We left fans on the edge of their seats at the end of Season 1, and we’re thrilled to continue Kimmie’s journey as she steps into her power as the newest member of the Bellaire family,” said Perry.

“Kimmie exemplifies the spirit of never underestimating the underdog, and I can’t wait for fans to continue to see her story unfold,” he added. “If you thought Season 1 was a wild ride, you’re not ready for Season 2.”

Beauty in Black premiered in October, with part 2 of the first season debuting on March 6.

The series follows two women from very different worlds who end up entangled in each other’s lives — Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams) is a stripper and Mallory (Crystle Stewart) is a wealthy businesswoman from a cosmetics dynasty.

The cast also includes Amber Reign Smith, Ricco Ross, Debbi Morgan, Richard Lawson, Steven G. Norfleet, Julian Horton, Terrell Carter, Shannon Wallace, Bryan Tanaka, Joy Rovaris, Xavier Smalls, Charles Malik Whitfield, Tamera “Tee” Kissen, Ursula O. Robinson, Ashley Versher, George Middlebrook, and Ts Madison.

Following its release, Beauty in Black Part 1 spent 4 weeks in Netflix’s Top 10 and in its second week the series was #1 across 28 countries, the streamer said.

Perry writes, produces and directs the series. Additional producers include Angi Bones and Tony Strickland for Tyler Perry Studios.

A release date for season 2 will be announced  later.
