Netflix is giving fans a glimpse into the much-anticipated fourth installment of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise.
Nearly four decades after Eddie Murphy introduced Detective Axel Foley in the 1984 original, the streaming giant unveiled a first-look photo from the upcoming sequel titled Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley.
The caption of the photo posted on X reads, “He’s back. Axel Foley returns in 2024!”

The image shows Murphy back in action, reprising his role as the street-smart Detroit cop.
Dressed in an updated version of his trademark Detroit Lions jacket, Murphy is captured with his hands in the air, surrounded by two police officers, as a curious crowd captures the moment on their phones.
The new film will see the return of franchise co-stars Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser and Bronson Pinchot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
As previously reported, they’ll be joined in the cast by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Taylour Paige.
The original Beverly Hills Cop saw Foley investigating a crime in Beverly Hills, a premise that captivated audiences and led to two successful sequels, amassing a combined franchise total of $712 million worldwide.
Directed by Mark Molloy and penned by Aquaman writer Will Beall, the fourth installment has Eddie Murphy not only reprising his role but also taking on the role of producer alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman.
The reboot will come after years of delays, multiple directors and changes including a 2019 move from Paramount to Netflix.
The new film will be released sometime in 2024.
