Romantic tension between two teen athletes sets the tone in the teaser trailer for Forever — Netflix’s upcoming series from Mara Brock Akil (Girlfriends, Being Mary Jane).
Lovie Simone and Michael Cooper lead the cast.
“You have no idea who I am, do you? Keisha Clark (Simone) asks Justin Edwards (Cooper) at a party in the opening of the trailer.
“Keisha Clark,” a smiling Justin answers.
Keisha is a confident and fiery track star with clear dreams after high school. Justin is a nerd at heart in an athlete’s body, who has dreams of success in playing D1 basketball.
Set in 2018 Los Angeles, the series is an adaptation of Judy Blume’s 1975 young adult novel Forever.
Reimagined for a new generation, Netflix describes the series as an “epic love story of two Black teens exploring their identities through the awkward and moving journey of being each other’s firsts.”
