Natasha Rothwell is returning to TV this fall on the Hulu comedy series How to Die Alone.
The actress created the half-hour comedy and leads the cast as “Mel,” an airport worker trying to figure out several personal issues.
According to the official description, Mel is a “broke, fat, Black JFK airport employee who’s never been in love and forgotten how to dream.”
Her life takes an unexpected turn when “an accidental brush with death catapults her on a journey to finally take flight and start living by any means necessary.”
The cast also includes Conrad Ricamora, Jocko Sims, and KeiLyn Durrel Jones. Bashir Salahuddin has a recurring guest role.

Rothwell and Vera Santamaria serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Desiree Akhavan is also an an executive producer.
The comedy is produced by ABC Signature in association with Big Hattie Productions and comes from Onyx Collective — a division of Disney Television Studios that brings projects from creators of color and underrepresented voices to audiences via Hulu.
Rothwell is best known to fans for playing “Kelli” on Insecure. She was additionally a writer and producer on the popular HBO comedy series. The actress also had a role on The White Lotus and she previously worked as a writer on Saturday Night Live.
She shared news about her new show on Instagram and captioned the post: “This is what a dream coming true looks like. HOW TO DIE ALONE.”
The comedy series arrives on Sept. 13 with four episodes. New episodes will stream Fridays on Hulu.
