NAACP Image Awards: Beyoncé and Chris Brown Are Big Winners on Night One

Beyoncé was named Outstanding Female Artist and Chris Brown took home the award for Outstanding Male Artist during the first night of the 54th NAACP Image Awards non-televised categories.

Queen Bey also won Outstanding Soul/R&B Song for “Cuff It” and Outstanding Album for Renaissance.

Brown received an additional win for Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration (Contemporary) with Wizkid for his single “Call Me Every Day.”

Additional winners during Monday night’s virtual experience included Erica Campbell for Outstanding Gospel/Christian Song for “Positive,” Rihanna for Outstanding Music Video/Visual Album for “Lift Me Up,” and Silk Sonic for Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration (Traditional) for “Love’s Train.”

The week-long virtual awards run from February 20-23, honoring outstanding achievements and performances of people of color across more than 80 competitive categories. The non-televised award presentations can be seen at www.naacpimageawards.net.

Night one featured host Khleo Thomas and appearances from presenters including Crystal Renee Hayslett, Echo Kellum, and Jotaka Eaddy.

The televised 54th NAACP Image Awards will air live on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 8:00 PM ET/ 5:00 PM PT on BET. The live show will also simulcast across Paramount Global networks including BET HER, CBS, CMT, Comedy Central, LOGO, MTV, MTV2, Paramount Network, POP TV, Smithsonian, TV Land, and VH1.

The awards ceremony will include a live audience for the first time in three years, taking place at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, Calif.
