Miss Black USA Pageant Set to Stream on Fox Soul

A practicing physician, an attorney, a doctoral student, and several other graduate students will compete in the 35th annual Miss Black USA pageant.

The Fox Soul platform will stream the competition live on Aug. 8, the Miss Black USA Organization announced Thursday.

“The pageant allows for Black women to have a platform to showcase the power and beauty of being unapologetically Black,” Karen Arrington, the pageant’s CEO and founder, said in a statement. “Our organization is highly respected and has redefined what it means to be a courageous, compassionate, and confident woman of color. We are proud that Fox Soul is airing the Miss Black USA Pageant for the very first time, emphasizing their commitment to the community.”

According to the pageant website, the competition aims to empower women to “use their voice, own their power, and redefines what it means to be a compassionate, confident and beautiful Black woman today.”

Miss Black USA is a non-profit headquartered in the state of Maryland. Since it was founded, the pageant has awarded over $500,000 in scholarships. For a look at this year’s contestants, head over to missblackusa.org.
