Method Man Joins Mary J. Blige in ‘Power’ Spinoff at Starz

Starz’s upcoming Power spinoff is adding more star power.

Method Man has signed on to appear opposite Mary J. Blige in Power Book II: Ghost, Starz announced Tuesday.

“Welcome to the @STARZ family, @methodmanofficial! He is officially joining the @power_starz spinoff “Power Book II: Ghost,” the premium cable network shared on Instagram.

The rapper and actor is set to play lawyer Davis MacClean. The character is described as “brilliant, ethically challenged, and with a few secrets of his own. Davis is drawn into our world on multiple axes, a world riddled with murder and drugs, where the only thing he’s really addicted to is winning,” according to Entertainment Weekly.

In July, Starz announced Power Book II: Ghost will continue the journey of some of Power’s most controversial characters, after the original series wraps up its sixth and final season this year.

Method Man, real name Clifford Smith, rose to stardom as a founding member of the Wu-Tang Clan. TV viewers may also remember him as Melvin ‘Cheese’ Wagstaff on HBO crime drama, The Wire.

His other TV credits include The Deuce, The Last O.G., and Blue Bloods. Method Man will next appear in Netflix’s upcoming Slutty Teenage Bounty Hunters.
