Despite comments from Terry Crews that White Chicks 2 is in development, Marlon Wayans says that’s not exactly true.

Wayans, who starred in the film and helped write it, took to Instagram on July 4, to set the record straight.

“My face when @terrycrews tells the world #whitechicks2 is happening but we still don’t have a deal in place,” Wayans captioned an image from the film. “Now every fanworld wise dms excitedly “IS THIS TRUE”?! Um… NO! Not yet. #ohterry.”

The original 2004 comedy, White Chicks, was directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans. The film centered on two disgraced FBI agents who go undercover to protect hotel heiresses the Wilson Sisters from a kidnapping plot.

It starred Keenen’s younger brothers, Marlon and Shawn Wayans, along with Crews, Jaime King, Frankie Faison, Lochlyn Munro, John Heard, Busy Philipps and Brittany Daniel.

The film earned $113 million at the worldwide box office and became a cult classic. Since 2004, fans have been clamoring for a follow-up film.

The confusion about the sequel started after Crews, who played Latrell Spencer, went on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live and told host Andy Cohen the sequel is happening.

“You know what? I actually got with Shawn [Wayans], and he was like, ‘Man, we’re doing it, we’re getting it going’,’ Crews said in response to a question from a caller.

“Fifteen years ago, as of this month. I’m staying in shape just so we can do that movie,” he added.

Maybe Crews knows something Marlon Wayans doesn’t. Stay tuned.
