The music may not be over just yet for Star.

Lee Daniels announced Friday the recently-canceled Fox series will get one last act, in the form of a TV movie.

“The bad news is that Star is not getting picked up for series,” Daniels said in a video posted on Instagram. He described the situation as “too long of a story to cry about,” before sharing a bit of good news with fans.

“We’re doing a movie of the week to wrap things up for y’all,” he explained. “We’re going to make something real special for you to scream about with all of our cast members, even the dead ones.”

Daniels created Star with Tom Donaghy. The series premiered in 2016 as a companion to Empire and ran for three seasons. But on May 10, Fox said it had decided to cancel the music drama. The series finale aired on May 8.

Star featured Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, Brittany O’Grady, Quincy Brown, Queen Latifah, Amiyah Scott and Brandy Norwood. Other cast members included Benjamin Bratt and Lance Gross.

After the cancellation announcement, Daniels took to social media to say he was shopping the drama around in hopes of finding it a new television home.

However, in a May 30 Instagram post, he left fans heartbroken when he revealed there were no takers.

“I got some bad news. It ain’t happening,” he said. “I tried my best guys.”
