Marlon won’t be returning for a third season.
NBC announced Friday it was canceling the Marlon Wayans-led sitcom after two seasons, delivering a pre-Christmas lump of coal to the show’s cast and crew.
The series about a divorced couple co-parenting their two kids was loosely based on Wayans’ life. It co-starred Essence Atkins, Bresha Webb, Diallo Riddle, Notlim Taylor and Amir O’Neil.

Riddle broke the cancellation news to his followers Saturday on Instagram.
“I should’ve waited to buy that yacht,” he jokingly wrote next to a picture of the cast. “But hey, do NOT feel bad for any of the people in the picture above. We’re so PROUD of the show we delivered.”
He added in the heartfelt message that the cancellation wasn’t a huge surprise, and many of the cast members have already lined up new “shows, movies, deals, and in Marlon’s case, plans for world domination coming in 2019.”
The second season of Marlon premiered in June and saw its ratings drop 42 percent from the season 1 premiere. The multi-camera comedy wrapped production on the second season in July.
NBC also canceled Midnight, Texas on Friday.
