Lizzo made a political statement this weekend while serving as musical guest on Saturday Night Live.
The singer belted out new music on the April 12 episode of the late-night NBC sketch series, while taking a jab at President Donald Trump.
After being introduced by host Jon Hamm, Lizzo performed a medley of “Love in Real Life” and “Still Bad” from her upcoming album Love in Real Life.

Later in the show, she performed “Don’t Make Me Love You,” while wearing a sheer gold gown.
But it was the cropped T-shirt she wore earlier in the night that got people talking. The shirt had the word “TARIFFIED” written across the front in red letters, calling out Trump’s controversial tariffs.
Just before the credits rolled at the end of the show, the Grammy-winning singer wore another black T-shirt with red letters that said: “BLACK WOMEN WERE RIGHT,” essentially saying — Black women did not vote for Trump in 2024, which exit polls confirmed.

Lizzo was a staunch supporter of Democratic nominee, former Vice President Kamala Harris, and joined Harris on the campaign trail.
As for Trump, in early March his administration announced tariffs on goods from Mexico, Canada, and China, according to ABC News.
After pushback from those countries and fallout on Wall Street, the administration reversed course on some tariffs. But raised them to 145 percent on Chinese imports when China slapped U.S. products with reciprocal tariffs.
Last week, Trump said some tech devices, including smartphones, computers, and flash drives will be exempt from the tariffs. Earlier today, CNBC reported China is now urging Trump to “completely abolish” his tariffs plan.
