Lifetime’s ‘Hillsdale Adoption Scam’ Stars Keshia Knight Pulliam in Adoption Nightmare

Keshia Knight Pulliam desperately wants another child in Lifetime’s The Hillsdale Adoption Scam, but what appears to be an answer to her prayers becomes a nightmare.

The actress stars in the film as Bethany, a businesswoman, wife and mother. While Bethany is unable to have more children, a pregnant stranger named Georgia arrives on her doorstep looking for help. Bethany’s husband Terrence has concerns about the stranger, yet they decide to adopt the woman’s unborn baby.

“As the pregnancy progresses, it starts to feel like things don’t seem right, and they begin to discover unsettling things about Georgia and her cunning and unscrupulous motives,” Lifetime said in the official description of the film.

Based on true events, the movie is produced by The Cartel for Lifetime. Stan Spry, Eric Woods, Samantha DeGagne and Devan Towers are executive producers and Anthony Fankhauser producers, with Asia Youngman directing from a script written by Justin D. James.

The Hillsdale Adoption Scam is part of Lifetime’s spring 2023 slate of original movies, and premieres Saturday, March 18 at 8/7c.

Girl in the Closet
The film follows 10-year-old Cameron who was placed in the custody of her aunt Mia (television personality Tami Roman), a convicted murderer, after her mother Patricia (Recording Artist Remy Ma) suffers an aneurysm. While Mia enriches herself with benefit checks from foster care, unspeakable atrocities occur at her hands. Cameron finds herself locked in a closet and near death, with only her faith to see her through. The film is inspired by actual events and also stars Brielle Oliver and Daijah Peters as Cameron at different ages. The drama debuts Saturday, March 11 at 8/7c.

Twisted Sister
Mena Suvari (American Woman) stars in Twisted Sister as a successful business woman whose life begins to unravel after welcoming the sister she never knew she had into her life. The film premieres Friday, March 24 at 8/7c.

Every Breath She Takes
After suffering years of mental and verbal abuse by her husband Billy (Brian White), Jules Baker (Tamala Jones) thinks she is finally free when a fierce physical struggle ends in a massive fire that destroys their home and takes Billy’s life. As Jules begins to rebuild her life, dark rumors haunt her when she hears whispers around town that she is “the one that killed her husband.” Things take a turn for the worse when problems with insurance arise after it’s found that the fire was intentionally set, and all signs point to Jules. Every Breath She Takes premieres Saturday, March 25 at 8/7c.

Giving Hope: The Ni’Cola Mitchell Story
On Easter Sunday, April 9, Tatyana Ali (Fresh Prince of Bel Air) stars in the biopic Giving Hope: The Ni’Cola Mitchell Story, telling the inspirational story of Mitchell who created the influential Black youth program Girls Who Brunch. The film premieres April 9 at 8/7c.

Drunk, Driving, and 17
Michael Michele (Ali, ER) and Savannah Lee Smith (Gossip Girl) star in the teen drinking drama Drunk, Driving, and 17 premiering Saturday, April 15 at 8/7c.
