Television personality Tami Roman and rapper Remy Ma will star in the new Lifetime film, Girl in the Closet.
The drama is based on horrifying real events, and follows a 10-year-old girl named Cameron, who is mistakenly placed in the custody of her aunt Mia (Tami Roman), a convicted killer, after her mother Patricia (Remy Ma) suffers an aneurysm.
As Mia begins caring for Cameron, she cashes in with benefit checks from foster care and abuses the child.
Meanwhile, Patricia spends over a decade searching for her daughter as Cameron finds herself locked in a basement and near death, with only her faith to keep her going.
The film also stars Brielle Oliver and Daijah Peters as Cameron at different ages.
The movie is produced by Swirl Films. Abbey MacDonald, Eric Tomosunas, Courtney Miller and Rob Hill serve as executive producers. Jaira Thomas directs from a script by Sa’Rah Jones.
Girl in the Closet premieres Saturday, March 11 at 8/7c on Lifetime.
The movie is the latest offering in the network’s “Girl In” franchise, which showcases stories of women who survive horrific circumstances. Previous films include Girl in Room 13, Girl in the Basement, Girl in the Bunker, Girl in the Box and Girl in the Shed.
