Lauryn Hill and the Fugees have abruptly called off their “Miseducation” anniversary tour, just weeks after the fall dates were announced in June.

As of Tuesday, Aug. 6, Ticketmaster placed “Cancelled” messaging for the concerts —  scheduled from Aug. 9 through Sept. 21 —  on its website. The first show was supposed to kick off this Friday in Tampa, Florida.

As of publication time, no reason was given for the cancellation.

Variety broke the news and said representatives for Hill and tour promoter Live Nation did not respond to requests for comment. Ticket holders were notified that they would soon be receiving refunds.

Social media users and fans took to X to vent their frustration over the Grammy-winning “Doo Wop” singer’s history of cancelling her concerts at the last minute.

X user @PLoJetson wrote: “IT’S SO DISHEARTENING BEING A FAN OF LAURYN HILL. Last October, an hour before the show in Dallas, it was canceled with no warning. I tried again this run even when EVERYONE clowned me saying I was foolish for trying. Canceled AGAIN. I love Lauryn man. But damn yo. DO BETTER.”

@deadeditors_ was also disheartened, writing on X: “I hate how often I’ve heard about this kind of stuff happening with Lauryn Hill’s name attached, it’s been a decade of it. I dodged a bullet when I was meant to see her in Brixton.”

Other users on X joked about the situation, including @alonzolerone, who posted: “I remember someone asked me if I’m going to the Lauryn Hill concert. I said ‘Does SHE know there’s a concert?’ Lol”

Last fall, Hill announced the rest of her tour dates in 2023 were scrapped.

She wrote in an Instagram post, “As many of you may know, I’ve been battling serious vocal strain for the past month.”

“For this reason we have to reschedule most of the remaining shows this year. The shows that were cancelled this year will be rescheduled for early 2024 AND because of the overwhelming response, we’ll be adding new cities to the tour, including overseas. We’re working on the new calendar now, and announcing soon,” she continued in the post.

A previously announced reunion tour in 2022 with the Fugees and Hill was also canceled, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic at the time.
