Kim Burrell is set to receive the Aretha Franklin Icon Award at the 39th annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards.
During the ceremony, Grammy-winning artist Tye Tribbett will be honored with the James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award.
New Jersey native Tribbett is a choir director and founder of gospel group Tye Tribbett & G.A. (short for “Greater Anointing”).
Burrell is a singer, songwriter and pastor from Houston, Texas. She has previously made headlines for her controversial (and viral) sermons.

The Stellar awards, which are popularly known as “The Greatest Night in Gospel Music,” will be taped in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 20, at the Orleans Arena.
Tribbett tops the nominations with eight nods, followed by Pastor Mike Jr. and Ricky Dillard with six nominations. Jonathan McReynolds and Erica Campbell picked up five nominations each.
The program will air on the Stellar Network on Saturday, Aug. 3 at 8PM and 10PM EST and in broadcast syndication from Aug. 10 – Sept. 8.
Comedians Loni Love and Rickey Smiley will host the show.
