The Roast of Kevin Hart brought laughter and a huge audience to Netflix.
The comedy special debuted at No. 1 on the streamer’s English-language TV chart, after logging 13.5 million views in its first week of release — from May 10-17.
The special streamed live from the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California on May 10, during the closing night of the 2026 Netflix Is a Joke Festival.

While the roast topped the viewing chart, it brought in a slightly smaller first-week audience than The Roast of Tom Brady, which scored 13.8 million views over its first week on the streaming platform in 2024.
Brady joined the fun on stage last Sunday, but left after delivering a few comedic jabs.
Hart hosted the 2024 roast. This time it was the Ride Along star who felt the burn in the hot seat. Hart’s roast included a surprise appearance by his frenemy, Katt Williams, as the two comics seemingly ended their feud after years of trading insults.
“I’m surprised they invited me,” said Williams. “That’s how little star power you have. They had to start inviting your enemies. I said, ‘I hate him.’ They said, ‘Come anyway.’”
The Woke Foke comic also shaded the other celebrity roasters — and called out the lack comedic heavy hitters on the dais — which included host Shane Gillis, Pete Davidson, Chelsea Handler, Draymond Green, Tony Hinchcliffe, Sheryl Underwood, Jeff Ross, The Rock, Big Jay Oakerson, Lizzo, and Regina Hall.
“Is this dais the best the industry could put together? I’m not sure if the Illuminati is real or if this is the junior varsity version,” said Williams.
