Tia Mowry is returning to Lifetime this summer to star in and executive produce the upcoming thriller, Single Black Tenant.
The film is inspired by real events and follows Esme Williams, a woman who after years of struggling financially believes her luck has finally changed when she moves into an affordable apartment in a quiet neighborhood in Cleveland.
But she quickly learns things are not what they seem after discovering her landlord may be the victim of a deadly plot. “Esme takes matters into her own hands, obsessively piecing together evidence until the truth can no longer be ignored,” according to the official description.
Single Black Tenant is part of Lifetime’s “Ripped from the Headlines” slate and will debut this summer.
The film is produced by Bruce Harvey for CMW Mountain Productions Inc. in association with Studio TF1 America. Timothy O. Johnson, Laurie Pozmantier, Stacy Mandelberg are executive producers, in addition to Mowry.
The project marks the actress and producer’s seventh collaboration with Lifetime, including A Very Merry Beauty Salon in 2024, which she also starred in and executive produced. The holiday film was part of her three-picture deal with the network, and also starred RonReaco Lee, Donna Biscoe, Cocoa Brown, and Ashli Auguillard.
Mowry’s latest film, Single Black Tenant, premieres Saturday, June 27 at 8/7c on Lifetime.
