MSNBC is parting ways with Joy Reid as the network overhauls its primetime lineup, according to published reports.
Reid currently hosts The ReidOut, which airs nightly on the cable news network in the 7 p.m. Eastern time slot.
The New York Times, which was the first outlet to report news of Reid’s departure on Sunday morning, said her final show will air “sometime this week.”
The outlet cited two unnamed sources and said the decision to drop Reid came under new MSNBC president Rebecca Kutler, who was officially named president of the network on Feb. 12.

MSNBC declined comment on the programming change and Reid has so far not released a public statement.
Reid’s show will be replaced by a new panel program featuring news anchor Alicia Menendez; Michael Steele, former head of the Republican National Committee; and Symone Sanders Townsend, a former Democratic strategist.
Reid, 56, joined the network in 2014. She began by hosting the weekend talk show AM Joy, before being promoted to a primetime anchor slot in 2020.
According to her biography on the MSNBC website, she previously served as managing editor of Black culture website, TheGrio.com; wrote a political column for The Miami Herald; and was editor of The Reid Report political blog.
She is a graduate of Harvard University and has written several books. Reid and her husband are parents to three children.
The progressive media personality is a fierce critic of President Donald Trump and one of MSNBC’s most outspoken hosts. She frequently makes headlines and goes viral for her sharp criticism of Republicans, “biased” reporting on rival Fox News, and U.S. policies on Israel.
MSNBC is also dropping Alex Wagner, who hosts a weeknight program at 9 p.m. Wagner has described herself as a progressive and has authored several books.
Rachel Maddow is expected to return to anchoring one day a week on Monday nights later this year.
MSNBC saw its ratings drop after the November election. But in recent weeks the numbers have started to rebound.
Earlier this month, The Daily Beast reported the network has averaged 1.37 million viewers in primetime since the inauguration. That marks an 86 percent increase from its pre-inauguration numbers.
The network’s total-day audience averages 711,000 viewers, marking a 43 percent increase since late 2024.
