Netflix released the first trailer on Wednesday, for the highly anticipated film The Piano Lesson.

“You feel that? That’s your family. That’s your blood. Tell your mama to tell you about the piano. Ask her how them pictures go on there,” actor John David Washington says in the opening of the emotionally-charged trailer.

In the film, Washington reprises his Broadway role as the brother who wants to sell the family heirloom — a prized piano — to build the family fortune in 1930s Pittsburgh.

His sister, played by Danielle Deadwyler, does not want to sell it and will go to great lengths to hold onto the piano.

Samuel L. Jackson reprises his role from Broadway as the uncle, who tries to help solve the feud between the siblings, but his own past keeps haunting him.

The cast also includes Ray Fisher, Michael Potts, Erykah Badu, and Corey Hawkins.

The Piano Lesson is helmed by John David Washington’s brother, Malcolm Washington, marking his directorial debut.

“I honor the spirit of August Wilson and the legacy he left behind for all of us. A legacy that thrives in the power of Danielle Deadwyler’s Berniece, the dynamism of John David Washington’s Boy Willie, and the understated brilliance that is Samuel L. Jackson’s Doaker,” Malcolm Washington said in a statement Wednesday.

His famous father, two-time Academy Award-winning Denzel Washington, is attached to the project as a producer, and their sister, Katia Washington is one of the executive producers.

The film is adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by August Wilson. This is the second time the play was adapted into a film. The first time was in 1995 with Charles S. Dutton and Alfre Woodard leading the cast.

The Piano Lesson will have a special screening at the  Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 10.

After that, the film will be available in select theaters on Nov. 8 and  will make its way to Netflix on Nov. 22.
