Jimmy Kimmel is calling for healing after the Oscars went off the rails, and he says Red Table Talk is the perfect venue for Will Smith and Chris Rock to settle their differences.

The late-night host roasted Smith during Monday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!

As the comedian kicked off his opening monologue, he offered a blow-by-blow of Smith “Hitch”-slapping Chris Rock for joking about Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head, which the actress has previously said is due to alopecia.

Still, Kimmel said Rock didn’t deserve to be assaulted and called Sunday night’s awards the “craziest” Oscars ever.

“The weirdest part was that Will Smith initially laughed at that joke. But then he must have looked over and noticed that Jada was not amused and he was like, ‘uh oh, I better do something,’ and boy did he do something,” Kimmel said to laughter.

The comic and previous Oscars host compared Smith to a crazy uncle ruining a wedding. He blamed Smith for the worst moment in Academy Awards history and said it even topped the debacle that happened in 2017, while he was hosting and the presenters announced the wrong best picture winner.

Kimmel praised Rock for quickly recovering and keeping this year’s show moving.

“Chris said something like, ‘Oh well, that was the greatest moment in the history of television,’ then went right into introducing the best documentary, as if he hadn’t just been slapped by the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Kimmel said. “By the way, no one did anything. A whole room full of people and no one lifted a finger.”

He suggested a Comedy Central roast of Will Smith hosted by Chris Rock or a more intimate setting for the two stars to sit down.

“I hope they at least get together and have a Red Table Talk or something, because it’s a bummer,” Kimmel said.
