‘Insecure’ Season 4 Premiere Date and Trailer Unveiled

Insecure is finally coming back.

HBO dropped a teaser trailer for Season 4 of the Issa Rae-created comedy Wednesday and revealed the series will return in April.

“It’s time to level up, ho, call me elevator. Ain’t worried ’bout no bullsh–, ain’t worried ’bout no haters,” the trailer shows Rae’s character Issa rapping in the mirror.

The third season of the series concluded in September 2018, but fans won’t have to wait much longer for new episodes. Rae shared a few details about the upcoming season Wednesday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena, Calif.

Fans will see the characters “entering that next phase in their life where they are trying to be intentional about the things that they’re doing,” she said.

The new season will also explore the “fallout that happens when you’re turning 30 — the relationships, the friendships you have to work at in a different way,” Rae explained.

She was joined by co-stars Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, and writer/director/executive producer Prentice Penny.

“We’re just trying to be honest to the people and the age and the culture of what we are,” Penny added.

As Ellis announced in October, his character Lawrence is coming back and… the actor is directing episode 7. Kerry Washington will direct episode 9.

Insecure Season 4 premieres Sunday, April 12, 2020 at 10/9C on HBO.
