Griselda is inspired by the life of late Colombian drug lord, Griselda Blanco, who left Colombia in the 1970s and expanded into Miami.

Blanco created one of the most profitable cartels in history and was believed to be responsible for dozens of killings.

The DEA eventually caught up with Blanco, who became known as “The Cocaine Godmother.” She was convicted of murder and racketeering, and served time in federal prison in the U.S., before being deported and eventually killed.

The series is executive produced by Narcos and Narcos: Mexico showrunner and directing team Eric Newman and Andrés Baiz. Additional executive producers include Ingrid Escajeda, Carlo Bernard, Sofía Vergara and Luis Balaguer with Latin World Entertainment.

Ingrid Escajeda & Doug Miro are co-showrunners. Andrés Baiz directed all six episodes.

Griselda premieres Jan. 25, 2024 on Netflix.
